Ingredients

  • 500 g beef, 1 inch cubes
  • 1 tin Guinness
  • 1 large red onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 portobello mushrooms, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • Eighth cup chopped rosemary
  • Olive oil, salt, pepper
  • Frozen shortcrust and puff pastry

Method

  1. Season the beef, sear in olive oil until brown. Add carrot and mushroom, cook till soft.
  2. In another pan soften the onion in butter, rosemary at the end. Mix in the flour.
  3. Everything into the slow cooker with the Guinness, 6 to 8 hours (or 30 minutes pressure cooker) until it pulls apart.
  4. Shred the meat a little, reduce the Guinness to a gravy. Stuck? Mash butter and flour and stir in.
  5. Cool. Line pie tins with shortcrust, fill, top with puff. Seal and freeze.
  6. Bake from frozen 45 minutes on high until bubbling and golden.

Notes

Made it 5 times. Buy the pastry, homemade was not worth it.
